The Heart Point — Acupuncture Experience
How to treat and listen to our hearts
By Dr. Gabriella Kőrösi

I have been going to acupuncture therapy for the last 5 years. I truly enjoy the process and can highly recommend it as a self-care and healing practice.
I had gone before as well, yet my experiences were not as intense as some of my experiences in the last year. Last week I had a wonderful acupuncture session.
I enjoy walking into the room which has a Zen feeling of calm and relaxation with music playing gently.
We usually have a discussion before the session about what is going on in my life and body. I like this process of getting to know what is going on and what I need the most support with.
Sometimes surprising things come to surface like this past time when I had a feeling that my heart will need to be supported.
There had been a lot of changes with the COVID-19 spike with Delta and a lot of things that needed to be done at work. I am planning a personal trip to see my daughter in a few weeks.
Emotions, caring, supporting others, being available all the time take a toll.
With all the events, I had a feeling my heart needs to be supported. I had not truly realized this until we talked about how things are going.
The last time acupuncture was used in my heart point, I felt electric pulses sweeping though my body like a current passing through me. It was alarming yet calming at the same time.
Acupuncture always brings me a unique experience.
Some points can be very intense at first. This indicates it was a “good catch.” I definitely need support in this area if it is such an intense feeling when the needle goes in. Some points are just like a little tiny pinch that I can barely feel. Other are more intense and make me want to jump off the table. Usually those calm down after a minute or two.
It is almost like hitting the “jackpot.” My body tells me: “You got it. This is it. This is what you need to focus on.” Once the needles go in, they stay in place for about twenty minutes.
